Make Jesus Your Focus

I love God’s word, and through my platform of Mornings with Jesus, my goal was to invite others to think on His truth, and live differently through it. What a truly amazing opportunity!

While I was writing my devotions, I tried to think about the challenges women face in particular, in living like Jesus would in their place, and then asked God to bring Scriptures to mind to empower them to meet those challenges.

During my own personal devotional time, Jesus is my focus. I really try to bring Him to mind throughout the day—to live in a way that I “practice the presence” of Jesus. I don’t see this time as obligation, but a privilege.

Jesus is longing to be with all of us. He has so much He wants to tell us. I make it a particular point not to come to Him out of guilt, but because of His great, redemptive love. I bring my whole self—doubts, mistakes, joys and sorrows. These are the sum total of who I am, and Jesus loves every bit of me.

For many years my quiet times were anything but “quiet”—instead they were noisy with me talking to God. As I’ve gotten older they’ve become more about listening, about allowing Jesus to be with me and not always about me needing things from Him, and needing to be with Him. More and more, my quiet time has become more about listening than talking, listening to Scripture, to God’s voice, and myself, in an effort to feel connected and loved in God’s world.
