Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen are best known for their comedic film roles. But for the past 5 years, the couple has been putting their comedy to work for a charitable cause. In 2012, the Rogens teamed up with the Alzheimer’s Association to start Hilarity for Charity, a resource for the millennial generation that is funded by annual star-studded variety shows.

Hilarity for Charity works with the Home Instead Senior Care Network to provide in-home care grants to families who need professional care for their loved one with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. Since its inception over two years ago, Hilarity for Charity has awarded nearly 200,000 hours of in-home care to families who need it provided by Home Instead offices in the U.S and Canada—and they’re not done yet. Half of all funds raised by Hilarity for Charity support this program.

Anyone who is currently caring for someone with Alzheimer’s and is facing financial and emotional hardships due to the unique challenges of Alzheimer’s or related dementia care is eligible to apply for an Alzheimer’s and Dementia Relief Care Grant. There are 3 different types of grants: a year-long grant, for 25 hours a week for a year; a mid-length grant, for 15 hours a week for a year; or a short-term grant, which is a one-time 25-hour grant to be used in hour increments. The grants are awarded on a quarterly basis to residents of the U.S. and Canada.

“These grants allow caregivers time to complete simple tasks that many of us take for granted—going to the grocery store, attending a work function, or simply doing chores around the house—knowing that their loved one is safe and cared for,” says Miller Rogen. “We hear from many of our grant recipients that this support is simply life-changing.”
