I work with the homeless in Chicago. It inspires me to meet some of these people with no way to provide for their own basic needs who still have faith that God will get them through. It makes me realize how blessed I am to have a home, food in my cupboard, a family to support me during times of stress and a God who loves us all regardless of what we do or don’t have.

For me it’s the Bible—I’ve been reconnecting this week!

My surroundings while staying along the coast of Maine. The Lord provides us with so much beauty all around us, including the people right next to us. For this, and so much more, I am humbly thankful and inspired to be more of who He calls me to be.

During my summer break, I’ve been taking classes at a community college. Jenny, my public-speaking professor, is so lively and has such a positive attitude. She is always encouraging her students, and she has an open ear to our thoughts and opinions. A good teacher is truly one of my favorite things in life.

Although my mom has complications from breast cancer, she comes to take care of my 10-year-old daughter and me every day. I am 47, and I’ve had two strokes, leading to dystonia, a very debilitating condition. She’s so strong and unbelievably caring; she prays and pushes through the pain to take care of her little family ahead of herself.

My granddaughter inspires me! She is almost three, and she sees things so differently than I do. If only we all could see the world through the eyes of a child!

My son Jacob inspires me, as do all my children. Here’s what he posted on my Facebook wall a few weeks ago before he left for basic training in the Navy: “First off, I want to thank you for putting me on the right path in life and showing me God’s love. That is the greatest gift I have ever received. Thank you for being an amazing mother. I will be praying for you every night and write you a lot. I love you, Mother.”
