God’s Economy

We don’t have to wait for our personal circumstances to get better; God’s economy is always in full supply.

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. (Psalm 50:15)

I am happy when I hear that the economy is getting better, but I am not sure what that really means. Are businesses making more profits? Are investors earning more on their stock portfolios? When I hear people continuing to ask for prayer to find a job or so their houses will sell for more than what they still owe the bank, I wonder.

Our economy revolves around supply and demand. When people have jobs, they spend more money and feel better about their future. They are more inclined to be optimistic, though that can be a fleeting emotion; people’s feelings can vacillate from day to day. However, there is another economy, one that is always stable.

God’s economy never runs short. The Bible declares that God has enough to provide for the entire world. That sounds impossible, but it is true. His forecast is the same every day, so it does not play with our emotions. We don’t have to wait for the national economy to get better for our personal circumstances to get better. God’s economy is always in full supply. There is no lack in God.

We are not limited in what we can ask God to do. He tells us to cry out to him in prayer. God does not qualify his statement; we can come whenever we feel we are in trouble. We can come any time, day or night. Let us pray for each other to overcome life’s obstacles and not be limited by the circumstances around us. This may be a challenge, but it will keep you in perfect peace.
