First Day of Advent
And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.—Luke 1:38 (ESV)
On this first day of Advent, consider that moment when the angel appeared to Mary and asked her if she would be the mother of the Messiah. Her response, after the angel answered her question on how this would be, was one of trust. “Let it be to me according to your word.” As we prepare our hearts for Jesus’ coming, strive for that wholehearted faith of accepting God’s will with joy.
Lord, God, I trust Your goodness and wisdom in my life.
